High School Band
Currently, the Unity High School Band Program involves around 15 students. Members of the High School Concert Band also are members of the Marching Mustangs in the Fall and the Pep Band in the Winter. Considerable emphasis is placed on individual student progress and achievement. Each year multiple band members are selected for the IMEA District Bands, West Central Conference Band, Bradley University Honor Band, and the Western Illinois University Honor Band.
The band meets daily and performs three formal concerts along with a few festivals per year. The band also performs at every home football game as well as the home games for both basketball teams. 2011 marked the first year of the band being a truly competitive marching band. In the fall the band meets on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 6:45 AM for additional marching band practice. Over the years, the bands have earned high ratings at the IHSA Organization Contest, performed at the Quincy Notre Dame Pep Band Festival, and in 2011 won a Grammy Signature School Enterprise Award.
